Fees, insurance and payment

KupCare is a private clinic. At present it has no contracts with any kupat holim or insurer, and prices are not listed on this site. What to know:

  • You can get a receipt to claim from your own supplementary or private insurance; reimbursement depends on your plan
  • On request, you can get an itemized invoice in English for US out-of-network claims
  • Payment is by credit card, check or cash
  • Spirometry and lung-volume tests are charged in addition to the consultation

Appointments and ways to be seen

Dr. Kupferberg sees patients aged 16 and over, in English, Hebrew or French. There are no fixed weekly hours. You can see him:

  • At Wolfson Medical Center, Jerusalem, in clinic sessions about every two weeks, booked online or through the Wolfson line
  • In Efrat, at HaMachar – Efrat Emergency Medical Center, arranged by WhatsApp or email
  • By video
  • At home, when needed and feasible

Tests, reports and second opinions

Alongside consultations, Dr. Kupferberg offers:

  • Breathing tests: spirometry, with or without a bronchodilator, lung volumes and walking oximetry
  • Sleep apnea evaluation and management: he coordinates sleep tests done elsewhere, reviews the results and provides CPAP follow-up
  • Second opinions, in person or by video
  • Medical reports in English

Frequently asked questions

What does a pulmonologist treat, and who does Dr. Kupferberg see?

A pulmonologist is a doctor who specializes in the lungs and breathing. Dr. Kupferberg, a pulmonary and critical care physician, sees patients aged 16 and over with asthma, COPD, chronic cough, sleep apnea, shortness of breath, bronchiectasis and lung infections such as pneumonia, including a cough that lingers after an infection. He also gives second opinions and provides CPAP follow-up.

Is Dr. Kupferberg an English-speaking doctor?

Yes. Dr. Kupferberg speaks English, Hebrew and French, so your visit can be in whichever language you and your family are most comfortable with. He trained in Canada and the United States. He can also write your medical report in English, which is useful if your doctors are abroad.

Is the clinic private, or does it work with the kupot holim?

KupCare is a private clinic. At present it has no contracts with any kupat holim (health fund) or insurer, so you pay for your visit directly. You can ask for a receipt to claim from your own supplementary or private insurance. Whether you are reimbursed, and how much, depends on your plan.

How much does a visit or a pulmonary function test cost?

Prices are not listed on this site. To ask about fees, message Dr. Kupferberg by WhatsApp or email. Spirometry and lung-volume tests are charged in addition to the consultation. You can pay by credit card, check or cash, and you can ask for a receipt to claim from your own supplementary or private insurance.

Can I get an invoice for my US insurance?

Yes. If you have US insurance, you can ask for an itemized invoice in English after your visit, to submit as an out-of-network claim. Whether you are reimbursed, and how much, depends on your plan. Dr. Kupferberg can also write a medical report in English for your doctors abroad.

How do I book an appointment in Jerusalem or Efrat?

There are no fixed weekly hours. In Jerusalem, Dr. Kupferberg sees patients at Wolfson Medical Center, Jerusalem, in clinic sessions held about every two weeks. Can I see Dr. Kupferberg by video or at home?

Yes. Video visits are available, including CPAP follow-up and second opinions. When a home visit is needed and feasible, Dr. Kupferberg can come to you in the Jerusalem area and Gush Etzion, and spirometry, with a portable spirometer, and walking oximetry can be done at home. Arrange video and home visits by WhatsApp or email.

Can I get a second opinion?

Yes. Dr. Kupferberg gives second opinions on lung and breathing problems, in person at his clinics in Jerusalem and Efrat, or by video. The visit can be in English, Hebrew or French, and he can write a medical report in English if your doctors are abroad.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring all your inhalers and a list of your medicines. If you are booked for a breathing test, wear comfortable clothing and avoid smoking and a heavy meal just before the test. If it is spirometry or lung volumes, see the Breathing Tests page for when to stop your inhalers; otherwise, keep taking them as usual.

Can I have a pulmonary function test (spirometry) with Dr. Kupferberg?

Yes. Dr. Kupferberg offers spirometry, spirometry with a bronchodilator, lung volumes and walking oximetry, which checks your oxygen level at rest and while you walk. The tests are done in the clinic; spirometry and walking oximetry can also be done at a home visit. Spirometry and lung-volume tests are charged in addition to the consultation, and only patients booked for them stop their inhalers beforehand.

What does a pulmonologist do for sleep apnea?

Dr. Kupferberg evaluates and manages sleep apnea. He does not perform sleep studies himself: when a sleep test is needed, he coordinates a test done elsewhere and reviews the results with you. He also provides CPAP follow-up and troubleshooting, in person or by video. Before your visit, you can fill in the STOP-Bang questionnaire on this site and send him your result.
