Dr. Kupferberg is a pulmonary and critical care physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience in Canada and the United States. He earned his MD at McGill University and completed his internal medicine residency in Montreal, then trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of California San Diego. He also holds an MPH from San Diego State University.

He is triple board certified in the US, in pulmonary, critical care and internal medicine, and certified in Israel in pulmonary and internal medicine. He speaks English, Hebrew and French fluently, and helps make sure your care follows North American standards of pulmonary medicine.

Dr. Kupferberg sees patients aged 16 and over, including:

What he can help with

Consultations, new or follow-up, cover a broad range of lung and breathing problems, including asthma, COPD, chronic cough, sleep apnea, shortness of breath, bronchiectasis and lung infections such as pneumonia. Services include:

• Breathing tests in the clinic: spirometry, spirometry with a bronchodilator, lung volumes and walking oximetry
• Sleep apnea evaluation: Dr. Kupferberg coordinates and reviews sleep tests done elsewhere
• CPAP follow-up and troubleshooting, in person or by video
• Second opinions, in person or by video
• Video visits
• Home visits when needed and feasible, with portable spirometry and walking oximetry

Fees, insurance and payment

Dr. Kupferberg’s clinic is private and currently has no contracts with any kupat holim or insurer. What that means for you:

• Ask for a receipt to claim from your own supplementary or private insurance; reimbursement depends on your plan
• If you have US insurance, you can ask for an itemized invoice in English to submit as an out-of-network claim
• Payment is by credit card, check or cash
• Spirometry and lung-volume tests are charged in addition to the consultation

If you are in Israel for a limited time, get in touch early. Scheduling is flexible to accommodate travelers’ urgent needs, and Jerusalem clinic sessions are held about every two weeks.

Dr. Kupferberg can write a comprehensive medical report in English for your doctors back home, and he can go over Hebrew reports and test results with you in English.
